When I used to think about love, I pictured something beautiful, something that could turn your life from black-and-white to dreamy. Love felt like a magical force that would make you want to do anything for someone else, expecting nothing in return. It was the idea that life could be even better than the best dreams.

But you notice I said I used to? Yeah, my view on love has changed.

From Hopeless Romantic to Realist

I used to be a hopeless romantic. I believed in true love, soulmates, and the idea that everything would work out in the end. But as I got older, I realized I had been influenced a lot by the books, movies, and TV shows I watched. These stories made love seem perfect like something that never went wrong, where everything was always smooth and hearts stayed whole.

But real life doesn’t work that way, does it?

The Soft Side of Love

I once thought love made you stronger, but now I feel like love makes you more vulnerable. It’s like you have to walk on eggshells around the person you love, always worried they might get tired of you. You end up hiding parts of yourself, or even pretending to be someone you’re not, just to keep their interest.
